Angels Singing? Maybe Not…
I don’t know about y’all, but most of my life I’ve assumed that angels sing. I bet you have, too. Who HASN’T pictured the angelic host, singing praises to the God of all creation?
Funny thing, though. Nowhere in the Bible do we find that the angels sing. Don’t believe me? I challenge you to find even ONE verse that indicates that angels have this capability! Amazing how we get ideas firmly ingrained in our heads that may not necessarily even be true…
Now, of course I wouldn’t make the problematic leap in logic to assume, then, that just because the Bible doesn’t come out and SAY that angels sing doesn’t mean that they don’t. And surely this isn’t some fundamental point of doctrine that we all need to get worried about.
But, isn’t a bit thought-provoking to consider that maybe - just maybe - this wonderful gift of song is something unique that God placed in us, who were created in His image? Doesn’t it make that much more awesome and special to think that of all of His creation, only His people have the ability to show forth His praises in song?
