VERSE 1
I know that it’s late
And we’ve been working hard all day
But I’ve been looking for a chance
To say some things I need to say
And maybe I should wait
Until a better time than now
But knowing us, and the way we are,
That time will never come around

CHORUS
You see, I know that I once told you
That I’d be loving you forever
Back when we were young and falling in love
But now time is catching up with us
And I guess I’ve changed my mind
Because forever just ain’t long enough

VERSE 2
Now, don’t look so surprised
To hear me speaking from my heart
Just because I’ve never these things
Don’t mean that I can’t start
I suppose I’ve come to realize
How fragile love can be
When I see other lovers who call it quits
And break up so easily

CHORUS
And I once told you
That I’d be loving you forever
Back when we were young and falling in love
But now time is catching up with us
And I guess I’ve changed my mind
Because forever just ain’t long enough

BRIDGE
These days they say love won’t survive
For very long
But when it comes to you and me
I know that they’re wrong

VERSE 3
And when our lives have run their course
I’ll know they weren’t in vain
Because a love so strong like the one we’ve got
Will surely still remain

CHORUS
And I once told you
That I’d be loving you forever
Back when we were young and falling in love
But now time is catching up with us
And I guess I’ve changed my mind
Because forever just ain’t long enough
No, forever just ain’t long enough

Behind the Music

A simple ballad about a man reaffirming his love and commitment. I’m actually working on a rewrite of this tune, turning it into a more energetic up-tempo tune. I’ll be posting it later this year…
