VERSE 1

Woman:
It’s a day to be happy, but I’m so nervous I could cry
Still my heart will not let me turn back now
No matter how hard I might try

Man:
I know what you’re feeling, because I’m feeling it, too
But I’ve reached the point where I can’t go on
If I must go on without you

Both:
Yet somehow I know that we’ll succeed
Where so many others fail
For beyond our own ability lies a truth that will prevail

CHORUS
Love will abound through the years
Perfecting the union we’ve begun
Through all the laughter and the tears
Love will remind us we are one
And even though sometimes we may disagree
We will find the common ground
For love will abound, love will abound

VERSE 2

Woman:
I feel it when you hold me, I hear it in your voice
It’s the promise of your faithfulness
Beyond any other choice

Man:
Oh, I see your devotion - it’s been there all the time
And I can’t conceive of a greater joy
Than to know you’re finally mine

Both:
We may not know how long this world
Will keep spinning ’round the sun
But as long as there is breath in me, you will be the only one

CHORUS
Love will abound through the years
Perfecting the union we’ve begun
Through all the laughter and the tears
Llove will remind us we are one
And even though sometimes we may disagree
We will find the common ground
For love will abound, love will abound

Behind the Music

I wrote this one for my younger sister’s wedding, inspired by a passage in the apostle Paul’s letter to the Phillipians. Even so, the lyrics aren’t overtly Christian, so this song will be suitable for weddings of any faith.
